An individual who contaminated candy with tranquilliser and provided them to children at a youth camp in the region has confessed to sexual offenses against two boys who were nine and ten years old.
The accused was arrested after eight youngsters and a grown-up experienced illness at the facility in July.
The senior citizen, from that region, pleaded guilty to a series of 17 offences when he was present at the courthouse on the end of the week.
Yet, he denied a single sexual charge he was accused of, which was against a nine-year-old boy.
The accused was remanded in custody prior to a additional proceeding on late November.
'Candy game'
The legal representative, prosecuting, outlined the defendant's actions to the judicial body.
She said his victims were children from difficult backgrounds who were staying at a summer camp which he ran.
The man played a "candy game" with the minors, the prosecutor stated, in which he would enter the children's bedrooms when they were getting ready for bed and tell them to ingest treats "rapidly".
She stated to the judge Ruben had engaged in this activity with the boys "repeatedly", and youngsters had previously fallen ill the following morning.
She explained the man had been capable of justifying this for many years as the minors being "overwrought by enjoyment", until his stepchild had concerns in July 2025.
The legal representative continued: "In the summer" his family member had concerns about the activities, for good reason.
"They decided to have a look in the individual's items."
The legal counsel stated objects including lubricant, Vaseline and medical needles were discovered, and his family member contacted the law enforcement about his concerns.
She explained the man proceeded to conduct the "sweet game" with six boys that evening - July 26th - and they were all sick the next day.
"Law enforcement" had not arrived by that point," she continued.
The oversight body, the police conduct office, previously told that it was reviewing law enforcement's management of the incident.
The prosecutor explained the children were having difficulty walking due to their condition, so the family member contacted the authorities again.
She explained the man then played the "sweet game" in a area of five youngsters.
