Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's twenty-one titles have been won on hard surfaces

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev won his first title for nearly 30 months with victory over opponent Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a former world number one, has had a torrid year, achieving just one match at the Grand Slams and suffering a difficult moment at the US Open.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and difficulties with his service game in especial - led to him exiting of the top ten and ultimately splitting with former coach his previous coach.

Now collaborating with Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke, the tennis star has steadily advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested competitive triumph over challenger Corentin Moutet.

This represents his maiden championship since the 2023 Rome Masters and initial on a hardcourt after spring of 2023.

The win also signifies he has achieved twenty-one championships at twenty-one various events.

"For the first time I have attended a competition with my two daughters together, so to win a championship is especially meaningful," commented world number 14 Medvedev.

"This championship is in dedication of my younger daughter her name, because the maiden victory I achieved when my child her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the past champion, had lost his previous six finals, featuring in the German tournament earlier this year.

His defensive strategy and regular outbursts on the tennis court had caused commentators to question if his capacity to compete at the top level was concluded.

Yet the athlete has made changes in the last few weeks, striving to approach the net and play assertively, reinforced by an improved serving game.

He fought back from a break down in the opening set against the difficult opponent, winning 4 of the final five games to go ahead.

The competitors traded service breaks in the second set before the challenger, bidding for his initial ATP Tour victory, seized the initiative to force a decider.

Moutet saved 4 early-game opportunities in a tight final set before the champion won the break to fifteen to serve for the match.

Suitably, Medvedev earned the title with a point at the front of the court, with Moutet incapable to control a return after a lengthy match.
